Tribal rugs of this size took 5 to 6 years to fully create. During that time the tribe would migrate, and when they migrated, they would disassemble their loom, and put it on the back of their animals- donkeys horses, or camels. When they arrived at their destination, they would set their loom back up and continue their work. Any time that you are assembling and disassembling a loom it’s incredibly difficult to get the tension just right, resulting in the tension lines you see in this piece (watch the videos to see me explain!) This rug is like a timeline and you can see when they migrated when they disassembled there a limb by the tension lines. 💓 So neat! This piece is a bit 'loose' resulting in some wrinkles. That's a part of the charm if you ask me!
