This is a 90 year old tribal piece was woven by nomadic peoples of the Moghan plain in the southeastern Caucasus region. It has a wool pile and wool foundation with a loose weave. This repeating pattern is commonly called “elephants foot” and each one is actually completely different.
The hexagonal motif’s are also called Memling ‘guls’ (or ‘flowers’ in the Farsi language)
