A beautiful Lilian rug woven in the Persian village of Lilian in the 1920s/30s by Armenians who lived there at the time. I am so drawn to the illustrations on this piece. The flowers are so lovely!
Lilian rugs are incredibly special because this village of Lilian is no longer inhabited by the Armenians who left in mid 20th century for larger cities. No more Armenian made Lilian rugs will ever be made. They are pieces of history that are exquisite and represent a finite period of time in Lilian.
