This rug, circa 1920s, was woven in the Persian village of Lilian by Armenians who lived there at the time. This piece is in impeccable condition!
Lilian rugs are incredibly special because this village of Lilian is no longer inhabited by the Armenians who left in mid 20th century for larger cities. No more Lilian rugs will ever be made. They are pieces of history that are exquisite and represent a finite period of time in Lilian.
