An old Hinegoon rug created in the 1950s-60s. Today the name of the village were this carpet was woven is Hunedjan (Shahreza county, Esfahan Province, Iran). Many who live there are nomadic Qashqai's who live there during the summer while their sheep graze on the mountainside. The very same sheep whose wool created this rug! The warps and wefts are cotton.
The area where this was woven has numerous small villages - Hinegoon is the name of the village where this one was specifically woven. The area has a mixed population. Some experts attribute Bakhtiari tribes to the creation of rugs from this area, some Qashqai. Each village has its own designs that have been passed down from generation to generation.
